Family Focus Evanston – Our Place
has the following programs:
Art for All provides visual art, music and dance classes, development of motor and language skills, digital media projects, computer skills, ballet instruction and competition, after school programs, for parents classes in jewelry making, sewing, quilting, creative writing classes and grandparents program.
Early Childhood Initiative provides home visits made by a trained support worker, developmental screenings, prenatal and parenting support, child development education, fitness and nutrition education, family planning education, crisis intervention, referrals to health care providers, community services and collaborating agencies, advocacy services, evidence-based curriculum : Parents as Teachers, BabyTALK, Healthy Families Illinois; support groups for grandparents raising grandchildren, Hug-A-Book : parent workshops and multicultural hard-cover children’s books.
Fatherhood Initiative includes parenting skills, father’s rights, ex-offender rights, employment referrals, information on child support, male-female relationships, grandfathering, parental self-esteem, domestic violence, child development, evidence based curriculum : 24/7 Dad, Born to learn-Young dads, Siempra Papa
Healthy Kids and Families includes healthy behaviors, preventive health education, bilingual staff members, linkage to healthcare providers, follow-up home visits, Zumba
Teen Pregnancy and Prevention Initiative : home visits, duola services, group meetings, parenting workshops, on-site high school classes, family planning education, mental health screenings, career and academic planing, recreational activities, fathers support groups, evidence-based curriculum : Parents Too Soon, Healthy Families Illinois
Providing Youth with Positive Alternatives includes positive alternatives to premature sexual activity, early parenthood, school dropout and gang involvement by providing education to youth, focus towards academic success, exposure to arts and mental health services for children and all day summer camps.
Keeping Summer Safe includes art programs, mentoring, physical activities, peer socialization, field trips and literacy initiatives,
Welcoming New Citizens includes interpretation services, ESL AND GED classes, citizenship classes, referral to healthcare, education and employment community resources for immigrants.
